Doing Qualitative Research Differently
A Psychosocial Approach
- Wendy Hollway - Open University, UK
- Tony Jefferson - University of Keele, UK, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, Sheffield University, UK
In the new edition, the authors situate their arguments firmly within a tradition of psychosocial research and show how their method has developed over the last decade. The book follows this approach through the phases of empirical research practice. At each stage they use examples from their own research and end with an extended case study which demonstrates the value of their method in producing a psychosocial research subject; that is, one with socially-imbued depth, complexity and biographical uniqueness.
Holloway and Jefferson present a very interesting account of qualitative research which is useful for undergraduates and those undertaking further study.
A very accessible undergraduate and post graduate text for psycho social research
Excellent book and offers a new and interesting perspective to conducting research
Interesting book that redefined qualitative research as we know it. Recommended as a text for further reading for students writing 3rd year projects.
This is an interesting perspective, and one that is likely to offer the researcher a different perspective. DQRD has the potential to encourage qualitative researchers to 'think outside the box' which in turn will create new knowledge.
This is an interesting text that incorporates psychoanalytical techniques with classic interviewing styles. Good for 3rd year students progressing on to Mres
This book was extremely useful to provide a differing perspective specific to research methodology
This is recommended for our DMin students - professional doctorate of ministry. Most find themselves doing qualitative work and need to appreciate the variations in the methods.
An excellent resource describing the psychosocial approach to qualitative research. A very clear and useful description of how to use the psychosocial approach and what it adds to your understanding of the interview situation and the data gathered.
Useful for MA students at the Dissertation stage of the MA.
