January 6, 2016

Landmark contract with the Specialized Presidential Council for Education and Scientific Research, Egypt provides access for all citizens of the Republic of Egypt

(Marlborough, UK) Adam Matthew, award-winning UK publisher of digital primary source collections, has signed a multi-year agreement with the Egyptian government to provide access to two digital primary source collections via the Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) project.

This ground-breaking agreement, announced in December 2014, is the first of its kind in the Republic of Egypt. The EKB provides access to resources from several international publishers, making it among the largest digital libraries in the world. The project is intended to improve the country’s English language skills and enhance Egypt’s position as a centre of excellence for teaching and learning in the Middle East.

From January 2016 the EKB will provide all universities, research institutes, hospitals, corporations, schools and the general public with access to the following Adam Matthew primary source collections:

Teachers and researchers will benefit greatly from the project as the sharing of knowledge and resources becomes more widely available.

Oliver Stacy, Head of International Sales at Adam Matthew said:

“We are delighted to be involved with this wonderful initiative to advance the provision of educational resources to the people of Egypt. It is very exciting for us that our digital primary source collections of essential Middle Eastern history are being made available through a national portal and we look forward to being part of this drive to inspire learning and innovation in Egypt.”

The agreement was signed on behalf of Adam Matthew by Tony Histed, International Sales Director, SAGE Publications at a ceremony hosted by the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
