Six SAGE Publishing textbook and journal authors honored by the American Evaluation Association

SAGE Publishing congratulates its six textbook and journal authors who were honored at the American Evaluation Association (AEA) Evaluation 2017 Annual Conference. Recognizing cutting-edge evaluation and research initiatives that have influenced citizens around the world, the awards were bestowed to Thomas Archibald, Stewart Donaldson, Stephanie Evergreen, Rodney Hopson, Michael Quinn Patton, and Abraham Wandersman.

The AEA offers awards in eight distinct areas, with each award serving to recognize exemplary performance across the field. This year SAGE authors were awarded the following:

  •  AEA Marcia Guttentag Promising New Evaluator Award – was awarded to Thomas Archibald. The award recognizes promising new evaluators who have completed their Masters of Doctoral degree. Archibald is a contributor to the American Journal of Evaluation.
  • AEA Robert Ingle Service Award – was awarded to Stewart Donaldson recognizing his instrumental efforts in promoting the interests and operations of AEA. Donaldson is a co-author of Credible and Actionable Evidence, Second Edition.
  • AEA Alva and Gunnar Myrdal Evaluation Practice Award – awarded to Stephanie Evergreen for her outstanding evaluation practice, and substantial cumulative contributions to the field through the practice of evaluation. Evergreen is the author of Presenting Data Effectively and Effective Data Visualization.
  • AEA Paul F. Lazarsfeld Evaluation Theory Award – awarded to Rodney Hopson for the contribution of his written work on evaluation theory which has led to fruitful debates on the assumptions, goals, and practices of evaluation. He is a co-author of The Program Evaluation Standards, Third Edition.
  • AEA Research on Evaluation Award – given to Michael Quinn Patton for his contribution to the study of evaluation. . Patton has authored numerous titles including Facilitating Evaluation, Qualitative Research & Evaluation Methods, Utilization-Focused Evaluation, Essentials of Utilization-Focused Evaluation, and has contributed to the American Journal of Evaluation and Journal of Mixed Methods, among others.
  • AEA Outstanding Evaluation Award – presented to Abraham Wandersman and his multidisciplinary team for their evaluation of the Spreading Community Accelerators through Learning and Evaluation (SCALE) initiative; a portion of the 100 Million Lives initiative, focusing on low-income US communities that had high capacity collaborations to address health and social issues and improve health equity. Wandersman is a co-author of Empowerment Evaluation, Second Edition.
