SAGE Publishing welcomes AlterNative: An International Journal of Indigenous Peoples

London, UK. SAGE Publishing today announced that it is to begin publishing AlterNative: An International Journal of Indigenous Peoples, in association with Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (NPM), New Zealand's Māori Centre of Research Excellence.

AlterNative was launched by Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga to provide an innovative space for Indigenous scholars to set their own agendas, content and arguments. Today AlterNative is a core source of scholarship by Indigenous peoples and for those working alongside, and with, Indigenous communities. It aims to shed light on Indigenous theory, thinking and practice, making sense out of leading issues, whether they are at local, national or global levels.

Michael Walker, Co-editor of the journal commented:

“Since its inception, AlterNative has created an international Indigenous academic community and has been monumental in generating an understanding of Indigenous academic discourse. Building bridges between the academic study of Indigenous affairs and the modern world, the journal covers the following themes: transforming places; peoples; communities; cultures; histories and colonialism. Interdisciplinary in focus, the journal publishes scholarship across the Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, Health, Business, and Law.
