SAGE to publish International Journal of Christianity & Education from March 2015
Los Angeles, CA – SAGE and Calvin College today announced a new partnership to re-launch the Journal of Christian Education and the Journal of Education and Christian Belief as The International Journal of Christianity & Educationfrom March 2015.
With an increased international focus, the new journal combines the strong history of high quality research of both the Journal of Christian Education and the Journal of Education and Christian Belief. The International Journal of Christianity & Education aims to be the first point of reference for academic discussions of the relationship between Christianity and educational theory and practice in formal and informal settings. It will publish articles across a wide range of educational contexts, including but not limited to primary, secondary, and tertiary educational institutions. The journal will be welcoming theological, philosophical and sociological approaches to the field as well as qualitative and quantitative empirical research. Full archives of the two previous journals will be hosted online as part of the new partnership and re-launch.
Speaking of the new partnership, Karen Phillips, Editorial Director, SAGE commented:
“We are delighted to be partnering with Calvin College to re-launch the two prestigious journals, Journal of Christian Education and Journal of Education and Christian Belief as The International Journal of Christianity & Education. SAGE is developing a strong program of journals representing leading scholars and societies across theology and religion, approaching these disciplines from a variety of perspectives including both an educational and sociological perspective. We see The International Journal of Christianity & Education as a key forum for discussion of the interface between theology and education and look forward to developing this journal as part of our portfolio.”
Editor David I. Smith further commented:
“We are excited about the benefits that our new relationship with SAGE will bring. With the academic publishing landscape continuing to evolve, we needed to find a strong venue where we could secure the future of the important area of research represented in our journals. We needed a stronger marketing presence combined with a supportive infrastructure and an understanding of and commitment to the kind of work that we seek to foster at the interface of theology and education. We have been impressed with SAGE’s ability to meet these needs, and believe that our partnership with them will allow us to extend the impact and deepen the quality of published research on Christianity and education. Drawing on the strength of SAGE’s extensive services to editors and authors, we look forward to a strong future for The International Journal of Christianity & Education.
The first SAGE issue will publish in March 2015.
